19 Jan January Update
A ‘quiet’ start to 2025 with floods, wind and a lack of events!
However, we have managed to get out on the water and our Juniors competed at the King’s Indoor Rowing Champs last Saturday.
King’s Indoor
The small and select squad of six juniors managed a Gold, two Silvers and a Bronze- not bad!

Particular mention should go to Fin, our Year 10 athlete, who cruised his way to victory in the boys event, before winning bronze in the 500m event. Emily in year 12 won silver in the Sixth Form Girls event and our Mixed Relay team smashed it to win Silver!
Rowing Foundation Grant
The Rowing Foundation, whose aim is to ‘put young people on the water’ and whose patrons are the Henley Stewards Sir Steve Redgrave, Mike Sweeney CBE and Sir David Wooton, have kindly given our juniors £3400 towards the cost of 12 sets of sculling blades.

The Foundation have supported the club in the past and we, and our junior squad, are very grateful for their generosity.
Barrie Burke Launch refurbed
Dave Webster has done a fantastic job of refurbishing the Barrie Burke, one of our ‘veteran’ slipper launches. From being in a somewhat sorry state he has completely refurbished the hull and internals and added some great modern features to ensure it will last for years to come. A great tribute to Barrie, who would have loving coaching in it.

The club gives its thanks to the time, effort and expertise that Dave has put into this project.
